Hey everyone,

i've been very happy with Mullvad, but lately I feel like more services are getting blocked (Spotify just got blocked, hell even Outlook can't connect) and forums are blocking Mullvad IP's which is why I'm interested in changing my VPN provider that focuses on privacy and no logs policy like Mullvad but also enables the option to browse the Internet without bumping into a Access Denied page everytime. Mainly I'd like Netflix and D+ etc. to be unblocked because I really dont want to keep disconnecting from my VPN everytime I visit those sites and services. I'm also the kind of person that runs his VPN 24/7.

I've been looking at ExpressVPN, which seems very nice but Lightway is very questionable. A closed source protocol? Why not Wireguard?

Does anyone else have a good recommendation? Not NordVPN please.

Now, when it comes to what we didn't like about azure vpn, it's going to have to be the price it's rather spendy, even when you're looking at it from an annual perspective, a little bit higher than some of his competitors so granted. It is one of the more comprehensive solutions on the market when it comes to vpns, but you know if you would like to do multi-hop or you'd like to have you know your own private ip? That is going to be an extra price on top of what you're already paying for azure vpn all right. So now, let's jump into some functionality and some performance when it comes to azure vpn, remember with any vpn you're, essentially just trying to mask your location. Now, with astrovpn you're able to have access to servers in over a hundred cities in over 60 countries, so really opens up the world for you when it comes to where you'd like to be on the internet. Additionally, it has tons of different protocols so really bumping up the encryption game. You have, of course, proprietary encryption methods like open web and stealth vpn and just about things they're all familiar with like wire guard and open vpn. So a lot coming to the table uh when it comes to protocols with azure vpn. Another highly customizable element is split. Tunneling now astrovpn kind of takes you to the next level. You can decide which applications go through the private tunnel which go through the public tunnel, and you can even do this down to individual websites where you decide. Okay, i'd like this website to be, you know more private, a little bit more mass in terms of location and these websites can go through the public arena. They also have built-in kill switch. So you can be sure that no matter what happens it's going to cut off if that connection is broken and they even have speed tests built into the application so that you can see what the speed is going to be like for any particular server that you're Thinking of using, let's shift to the performance of astrovpn, particularly its speeds, now right off the bat. I do have to disclaim that this is gon na, be really dependent on a lot of different variables for your internet, speed, your location and what you're doing. But we tested absolute vpn on the east and west coast on iphone and imac respectively. So let's go ahead and dive in now, beginning with my iphone here in new york, the control speed. By that i mean the speed without any vpn attached, was a lightning fast. 358 megabytes per second download and 277 megabytes per second upload. Now, when i went over to my video, i was able to get 128 megabytes per second download and 63 megabytes per second upload and london, where some of the best soccer clubs in the world play. We got 134 megabytes per second download and 95 megabytes per second upload and finally, in bosnia, i was able to get 108 megabytes per second download and 17 megabytes per second upload shifting to the mountain west, where we had an imac, we were able to do a Control test with no vpn at 250, megabytes per second download and 22 megabytes per second upload. Now, when we decided to go right over to sydney, australia, we got a megabyte download speed of 208 per second and 19 megabytes per second upload and for amsterdam, 242 megabytes per second download and 21 megabits per second upload. Now, as you can see, from our speed test in new york and on the west coast and from an imac and an iphone speeds, were rather variable, you could really not necessarily guess what's going to happen from one moment to the next, but you do note that It was particularly impressive on imac, where our individual, who tested this, saw that the imac was able to essentially see functionally no difference in upload or download speed from the test that we saw take place. That control was 250 and you would see that in amsterdam. It would be 242, so really impressive speeds, especially on imac, with our actual vpn test. Briefly touching on the plan options with actual vpn, you have a few different lengths to choose from you have monthly plans, semi-annual and annual plans. Now remember: astral is one of the more expensive vpns on the market and it becomes even more expensive still if you decide to go with some of the more vip features like multi-hop. But if you'd like to get a full breakdown on the pricing plans and features head on over to security.org, well, we've spoken enough about the features and options, let's just dive into the everyday experience on my mac and iphone. So here i am checking out astrovpn on my mac now you'll note right when you open the app that there's a massive button that says off or on, and i can just go ahead and tap on and voila. Now i'm in the uk i'm in manchester lovely, maybe i can go to old trafford. I check something out there, but let me just go ahead and back out now. If you note, if i go down to this tab, there are tons of options available to me, but not every option. You'Ll see that some of these are actually grayed out, which means i cannot jump into those places in order to mask my location. But i can change that if i go to the top, where you see all the different protocols available so again open web openvpn, stealthvpn and wireguard. So if i tap on wireguard and go to the same list, you'll see wow, a lot of these places that were earlier not available to be accessed will actually be here. I can actually go into different places than were previously available to me. In fact, these are just mostly completely different places uh to go into, and you can do that for wire guard do the same for open web and you can even do the same for stealth vpn. So you have tons of options available to you right inside of the application, but of course this is actually vpn we're talking about. So that's just part one of everything that they're going to bring to the table. So if i go into that upper left hand corner where you have those three lines, you'll see those your settings, you can dive into user interface and decide how you'd like to see it. You have the ability to look at the various options like i'm currently in stealth vpn, so you can see the mode, the connection, port, internet application, filter, site filter, which of course allows you to tunnel that app or that website, through the vpn or through the public Space, you have port forwarding, vpn, sharing various dns options, even the ability to see speed tests. I really like the speed test because you can decide what you'd like to see on this little graph and it tells you okay, china, supercharged, 6 usa, kansas usa la then. You get this nice little graphic on the right side. It tells you exactly how fast you're going to get in each one of those locations, so i decided to go to la well. This is the speed i'm going to get. If i decide to go to china, this is the speed i'm going to get. So that's really fun. I don't know why i'm particularly into looking at those metrics but they're useful as you're, trying to decide where you'd like to go within your online experience now jumping out of this space, you can actually go to your proxy settings and decide okay. What type of proxy would i like to set up http https uh? Do i want to go into my privacy settings, so i want to make sure my internet kill switch is activated. Yes, please do. I want to clear my flash cookies or clear my cookies. All of that is available to you right inside of that particular protocol and, generally speaking, they're going to share a lot of those same settings but they're not always the exact same. So you really get tons of flexibility with astral vpn inside of its mac application. So here we are checking out astrovpn on my iphone now you'll note that the azure vpn for iphone doesn't have as much as you can get in other settings, but it has got that wonderful, easy button, so easy turn it on and now i'm in san jose Usa and go ahead and turn it off, and now i'm back to where i am in new york now you'll note that i can actually tap down and see all the recent places that i've been so i can go back to spain turn it on now. I'M in spain i can turn the back off or i can actually go to all of the places available to me, and this is going to show me everything so from a number of cities - united states to france, to spain, to czech republic, to lithuania, to pakistan. All of these places are available to join directly from my phone, so here i am now in vietnam. Now beyond that, there's not a ton offered inside of the mobile application for iphone. You can of course go back and forth between vpn protocols, tcp and udp. You can see when it's going to actually inspire for you and you get a few different settings. Basically letting you know. Would you want this vpn to be on uh, even when the screen is off uh? Do you want it to reconnect and what protocol would you like to be in so generally speaking, not a ton going on inside of the actual vpn mobile application for iphone, but definitely functional, definitely giving you a ton of different service to choose from and it works. Well, in that regard now i want to give you my final thoughts on absolute vpn and svpn is for experienced users. Let'S just say it's for advanced users, because it just offers so much i mean when it comes to a comprehensive vpn. It'S definitely uh one of the most comprehensive that we've seen here at security.org we're talking, vpn, sharing, dedicated ip addresses, it's really bringing a lot to the table and you are going to pay for it. You know that's going to be a little bit steep for some of us uh, but it's definitely going to allow you to really flex that uh noodle, if that's really what you're into uh when it comes to your vpn experience now for me personally, i really wish They would have - maybe you know, improve the interface a bit since i was using it back in like 2012 or so, but i guess they abide by the maximum. If it ain't broke, don't fix it and frankly, there's very little to fix about actual vpn all right. Hey guys welcome to my review today of Astral VPN. It was launched back in 2009, so it's been around for quite a while. The fact that it's based in Seychelles, where there are no data retention laws, makes it appealing. But the question is, if that's enough, to give it an advantage over all, I feel there are much better VPNs for a similar price out in the market right now, but it still makes sense to get it in certain conditions or for certain people. So today, I'll be reviewing the pros and cons and, of course comparing it to other VPNs in the market before I forget, though, feel free to check the description for a list of top VPNs that I would recommend across different categories and, of course, links to special Discounts on all those as well now as far as standout features, go so first off. It'S very easy for new users to sign up, and that's a good thing. In fact, astro claims that you can start using their VPN within three minutes of signing up, which is nice. It'S not uncommon, but all you have to do is download it using your OS, which it identifies and brings up the download button automatically now usually VPNs offer either a free trial or money-back guarantee, not both, but Astral is one of the few VPNs to give you Both so you can have a free trial and take that time to think about it, which is nice. You can also have 5 simultaneous connections per account. It is more compared to a lot of VPNs. Now Astral has doubled their servers since the beginning of 2014 and now has about 365 servers in 64 countries. So it's not as high as expressvpn, but it's a lot higher than others like a virus. It also works with dd-wrt routers, which means you can work around. The lower than usual 2 device limit astral also offers the same features in every plan. Plans just have varying lengths of time, so every plan will include access the servers, unlimited bandwidth and other features as well. It'S available in all major platforms, so that would include like Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, tor and android privacy, wise. Of course, you obviously know that privacy is what matters with VPNs. If the encryption or logging isn't up to the mark, then it's kind of pointless. So it's good to know that ass drill provides SSL 256 bit encryption on all of their plants, and so what this means is even on your free trial. You'Ll have the best protection possible now. Estriol also gives you the biggest list of available protocols. I'Ve ever seen, including open web stealthy, PN, open, BPM, Open, VPN, Cisco IPSec, i ke v2 l2tp, SSTP PPTP. In fact open web and stealthy PN are proprietary protocols created by ass drill open web basically helps you avoid deep packet, inspection or DPI, as it's known. So your chances of Netflix detection and ISP throttling are reduced. Stealthy pan lets you slip past firewall systems and that's one reason. This VPN has been known to be a pretty good choice for those in parts of the world where they have governments that really try to control what internet sites they access. Others also Killswitch for most plans. That way, you can protect your data. If your connection drops - and it also prevents your data from being exposed to anyone watching or listening so in terms of privacy and security, I would say Astro actually offers quite a bit and certainly one reason I think it's been around quite a while and then in Regards to online streaming or torrenting, you can get unlimited restriction, free torrenting with astral, and this is nice, because if your ISP sees you downloading huge files, it's not uncommon that they may want to start throttling your connection and now, while it doesn't name Netflix in particular, You can unblock a lot of streaming websites. I was also able to test and connect Netflix in three different countries through three different servers with no issues. It also unblocks Netflix's geo restrictions. It was unblocked in a UK US Chicago and Netherlands. However, it was blocked by New York and Canada. So keep that in mind, you may have to change the servers up a bit to have a good connection or to have a action. That'S unblocked now speed wise, just like every other VPN maestro claims to be very fast. I tested the speed, though, to get an honest idea of what to expect and overall it does. Okay, you know the both US and EU server speeds are consistent and good. Now here's some reasons you may want to consider another VPN. So I mentioned privacy being a huge selling point for us drill. Well, it protects you from others. Are you protected from estriol itself? So if you dig into their privacy policy, see you'll see that they collect data cookies and personal information and there's more thorough reason for collecting data is to personalize your experience when it comes to things like online shopping and interactive communications. So that kind of language sounds exactly like what you get with free VPNs, which use your data to target ads, it's kind of a vague contradiction to their privacy claims and that's bothersome. Overall, I consider that a big no-no, so we know Astral, is easy to use and download and but the issue with their that their interface is kind of ancient. The whole look is quite dated and dull and it does make it. You know a little more off-putting. I guess you could say now: one of the biggest issues with astral is the cost, so regular VPNs can cost you around two to three bucks. You know if you're looking at a year to your plans, you know so you'll end up paying anywhere around thirty to forty dollars annually. That'S a good deal, but Astral's cheapest plan is at 583 a month which is nearly double of what other VPNs charge and can be even three times what other VPNs charge. So, even if you take the three month, option you're still paying $ 10 a month and that's pretty high it'd, be better to go month-to-month with other other VPNs, even other VPNs. That would be better than astral. So, overall, the price is probably the biggest issue with estro also doesn't offer setup wizard for routers on their website, like other VPNs. They sell with s trills already installed, which is kind of annoying live-chat. A' is always a handy tool for VPNs because it means you can access their services anytime and estriol does offer the live chat option, but it's tricky. So I can certainly take you through the live chat option. You know. You'Ll enter your name, email message to start and it's again it works, but you can select the department. You want to ask the question to. I select a technical support. My question was what routers are compatible with s drill and then of course, you'd hit. Send you do have to wait to get a notification which did end up taking hours for me, and so you know hours on a live chat, that's kind of frustrating. It'S ok for email based system, but completely frustrating. When you claim to have live chat. You can also try leaving a message option and waiting for a response. Instead of wasting hours in the live chat window, the website does seem kind of shade. Is the only post, biased, positive reviews OS? So it does just give kind of a strange and odd vibe there. So in conclusion, do I recommend astral I'll help? Not really I mean don't get me wrong. It isn't bad, it's a solid. If you take the price out of it, it's a solid and in good performing VPN, but when you factor the price in it's just there's other other VPNs. That would be a better option and there's not really much that Astral does that other VPNs don't do for less money, so Astro does again have good speeds and usage, but they're a sight from that. There'S, no real compelling reason to use it for this cost. So, overall for value for your money, it's just going to be it'd, be better to go with other VPNs, which again I'll put some in the description. So you can get an idea of better VPNs, depending on your situation, because different VPNs, you know even a top VPN. Astrill VPN Review 2021 Can it compete with ExpressVPN ...

Hey we'll turn on guys at my name's Thomas park. Welcome back to another video today we're checking out Astro VPN. This is one of the older VPN providers that I haven't checked out. It used to be fairly popular and mostly as kind of an unblocking situation for people in China and other strict kind of firewall based kind of internet connections. Maybe corporate or even just censor countries like I mentioned China um so is Ashville VPN, still a good VPN leading up in 2020. Let'S go ahead and find out hey guys, just a reminder to check out VPN tearless com. It'S a collection of all my ratings on the channel and you're gon na find lots of helpful information here on how to choose a VPN anyways back to the video. So one thing about Ashville VPN is that it's pretty expensive. It'S definitely the most expensive VPN provider. On the market that is, you know, used, though the VPN that itself is $ 20, a month $ 120 a year and um $ 15 a month for six months, so $ 90 for six months, so the one year plan actually isn't as bad as the one Month, plan or a six month plan or the ceilin plan is still pretty bad, but the one month plan is the worst one year. Plan is $ 120, so 20 dollars more expensive than expressvpn. Isn'T that bad, but again, 1 month, plan $ 20 a month is by far the most expensive, a VPN really around tour guard VPN without discount codes is $ 10 a month, some other VPNs like air VPN or between seven eight dollars a month. So if they are much cheaper and pretty much have the same features, not only that but you're still gon na have to pay extra for private IPS, the VIP add-on, which is going to give you better speeds and reduce latency for places like Asia or, if you're, A gamer, I'm not only that'll, also come with multi-hop VPN ability and VIP package allows Purohit air traffic on all servers. So it's really gon na be kind of the thing that you probably will want if you really do like Asheville. So the fact that that's gon na be $ 30 a month is insane very expensive, to say the least: let's go ahead and check out the application to see if what you're paying for is really worth it and do other categories as well. Someone called the thing about Asheville is that it kind of has a pretty good tutorial system. Now it is a pretty complex VPN to use, but it does give you a good amount of information in this tutorial. I haven't really seen tutorials like this too often on the channel with VPNs, so it even kind of goes in description about open web. So, theoretically, you could share the connection between the desktop and phones and stuff like that. But it's an interesting idea. I don't want to look at the tutorials too much because we know how to use pretty VPN pretty good all here on the channel. Let'S go ahead and log in the cool thing about asheville is that you can get a free trial and that's what i'm doing out here. I want to pay 20 bucks a month just to review it um, but you can't get a free trial for around a week of it, but basically what you're gon na have to do, though, is verify your phone number. I guess that's one way to get around. Restricting people from just abusing the free trial over and over now, of course, you can just use a faber, nuri verification program and that's kind of what I did, but I wouldn't really recommend doing that if you do like a stroll - and you do want to pay For it, but here it is, and it's very small one thing you notice about Asheville VPN - is that everything kinda feels compacted down into this tiny interface and I'm not really quite sure why they were so focused on it being so small. Now it kind of be kind of be cool, just have it off here in the corner, if you want kind of not as like a mean application, but again it is kind of so small that it makes it a little bit clunky to navigate now see in The here in the settings it will show the settings and when you click on it will actually open the settings. I don't kind of prefer more of an interface where it has like the tab on the side and then things on the side there, and then you could just kind of click in between each one, but instead the way it works is that you'll click on it And it'll take you to it and got to click back and go back and forth, so it does make kind of navigating back and forth a bit. Clunky, however, guys actual VPN is very strong in terms of its security and features. As you could see here, we have a lot of Open VPN options. You can change the the mode between TCP and UCP. There'S a couple different ports. You can also change an encryption and there's a lot of options here, I'm probably a little bit more options than most other VPNs now, as blowfish gon na be secure. Well, not really, but you do have a ES and some other different kind of encryption options there. In terms of the application filter, you could tunnel all apps, so this is gon na be kind of like split tunneling. You also have a site which is going to work for specific sites, which is also pretty cool. We do have port forwarding options. You can enable it and port forward the port that you want, as well as DNS options. You can configure it right here with lots of options presented proxy settings as well to implement proxy Sox proxies, HTTPS and stuff like that, and we have an app guard which is going to be like an application, a kill switch and we even have some more privacy Settings here so overall, natural VPN is up there among the best alongside stuff, like tor guard VPN err VPN. These are some of the strongest apps you could find, and why is that? Well, it's just because it has a little bit of everything and it's very secure and future rich to boot. So for the price. I think this is you know a very close to perfect application. It could be a little bit more user friendly with the design and size of the application, but besides that, I don't really have too many main critiques with it. It'S a pretty saw tap location, a lot of protocols, options here, even with wire guard now wire guard. Isn'T really fully ready for use yet so that is the stipulation I would give to you that it's not fully audited or tested or fully secure, but to see that they're implementing it. It means they're constantly updating this app and making it better, which is very good to see all right guys, let's go ahead and do a speed test now, all right guys. So let's do a speed test, doing kind of an automatically selected server. That should be pretty fast. I was doing a little bit of speed test yesterday and we saw some ok results in the speed test. Didn'T seem as fast as some other VPN providers like some of my top rated VPNs um, but the torrent speeds were actually quite good, so my internet has improved since you know most of my other VPN tests on the channel, so normally my speeds would be around 500 megabits per second with VPN, maybe somewhere, between a fast one like somewhere between 200 to 300 megabits per second. So this isn't the best speed test. It'S ok, but let's go ahead and do a real world kind of torrent test to get a better indication of you know what the speeds are actually gon na. Look like when downloading the Astra works. Is that if there's just I don't really what happened. I was testing Ubuntu file, downloading it with asheville trying to see the speeds and for some reason this is like the third time this has happened. It'S like my computer is like frozen, and I've had to like close down all the applications and stuff like that. Asheville VPN did just update, so maybe some kind of update push that through. Let'S see if I could get this beat test done. Hopefully no one else is having these kind of you know problems with such a big. You know usage, I don't, I think as for might be causing it, but let's go ahead and see what kind of speeds we can get with. After all, okay, guys, looking at the graph here for the downloaded file, seems like asheville. Vpn went from around mid 20s. So around 22 hi, you know 20s around 30, so around 20 to 30. Megabytes per second is pretty good speeds. Again, I did upgrade my internet, so let's go ahead and do a speed test comparison between tour guard VPN, which is largely consider one of the fastest VPNs four torrenting and just downloading and speeds overall on the channel to see you know what kind of speeds these Are, and so we can understand them with a little bit of context, since we did upgrade the speeds of our internet. So, looking at the current speeds from tour guard, you could see that it is quite a bit faster than astro VPN actual VPN somewhere between 20 and 30, more likely 23 to 24 kind of average tor guard is shooting up all the way consistently, sometimes to 35 34, 30 to 30. I'M consistently between the 30s and 40s, though looks like it is going to be faster, then astral, VPN, so astral VPN, might just kind of be like an average VPN provider, maybe a little bit faster than average. But it's not gon na be as fast as one of the top-ranking VPNs. That'S for sure you can see from these speed graphs. It looks like tor guard is still gon na be much faster, maybe even ten megabytes, a second faster than asheville here and in this case actual VPN does collect some logs. It says they keep track of active sessions like connection time IP address device type and attribute application vision, but once you disconnect, apparently it's a removed from their system. Apparently they claim. This is only to monitor the simultaneous device use. They also keep track of the traffic used, but they say no person that identical information is kept, so it looks like they collect bandwidth logs on some connection logs and they do connect collect connection times. Durations country device type, a national client identification number so guys looks like it's not the best in a while and a VPN policy. Unfortunately, it's kind of a bummer, so a national VPN does seemingly have live chat, but when I open it nothing happens. I'Ve tried a couple different browsers. It doesn't seem to work, it's not like opening anything per se. For me to see. I'Ve tried it in different browsers clicking on this. Just opens it up, but it doesn't work so not really sure. What'S going on there, but at least some my tests right here doesn't seem like chat is working. Let me know down the comments down below if you could get it to work, and maybe I could are just there kind of section in the future. Unfortunately, it's not gon na be working a live chat, so it looks like we are connected to Asheville VPN. Let'S go ahead and test out some Netflix, maybe just something like this see. If it works. Oh wow, that's actually surprising. I didn't expect to work at all. Let'S go ahead and test some Hulu and prime video as well. All right, we are logged into Hulu. Let'S see, if that's South Park episode, the following, isn't my only from a arathi well nicely done. After all, testing out prime video, it looks like it works as well wow. I did not expect that either. Now we just have to test our BBC iPlayer with a UK server, though, looks like we might have found Asheville's Achilles heel in terms of streaming. It doesn't look like it's gon na be working with BBC iPlayer, which is a little bit of a letdown, but still three point. Seven five out of five is quite good, alright guys so for the final review, as for VPN is gon na, be a Tier three VP Anna, not very good. Unfortunately, they really did get hurt by the pricing model. Here, it's just too expensive when comparing it to other VPNs. Other VPNs are not only cheaper but also work with streaming. Even better have better speeds. Have you no better know? Log policies have better live chat and so forth. Now, Ashville VPN does very well in service application. Make no mistake: it has just as much as security features and customization is some of the best VPN applications out there. However, the speeds were a little bit of a letdown when compared some other top tier VPN providers in terms of torrenting, and I other miss stuff already mentioned in the review - all right guys.
