I just left PIA for torguard, and honest it is far more stable of a connection (on the windows client) but for some reason in my arch linux install theres a setting thats making all/most vpns crash regularly with 100% packet loss.

i've been very happy with Mullvad, but lately I feel like more services are getting blocked (Spotify just got blocked, hell even Outlook can't connect) and forums are blocking Mullvad IP's which is why I'm interested in changing my VPN provider that focuses on privacy and no logs policy like Mullvad but also enables the option to browse the Internet without bumping into a Access Denied page everytime. Mainly I'd like Netflix and D+ etc. to be unblocked because I really dont want to keep disconnecting from my VPN everytime I visit those sites and services. I'm also the kind of person that runs his VPN 24/7.

I've been looking at ExpressVPN, which seems very nice but Lightway is very questionable. A closed source protocol? Why not Wireguard?

Does anyone else have a good recommendation? Not NordVPN please.

Switching from Mullvad - can anyone recommend me a new VPN?

Hi! I'm looking for a decent VPN, currently debating between Nord or Express, not sure who to go with. Mainly looking for a VPN for casual everyday use and streaming, etc. I know there was a similar post to this sub a few years back, but I'm wondering if there are any more things to look out for.

im not sure what it is on windows.  

with PIA i was dealing with two separate issues -- QoS: overcrowded servers, constant kicks every 15-20 minutes for the last 2-3 months on any server, making it pretty much impossible to use or download anything (rechecks take longer lol)  

so I canceled them and got torguard, and so far, while the speed during peak hours isnt as ideal as at night, its seems (at least on windows) to work (although their software is a bit buggy, the beta version works on windows, and you have to build your own package since the AUR one is broken/outdated)  

anyway it all works. except for the fact that on linux, something happens (ive watched kernel logs) where after awhile its like, esepecially wireguard but also ovpn, just try to send a packet and receive nothing.  

its not like much ive seen its like the firewall or router are blocking it from doing some kind of handshake to stay connected but only after a certain period of time. its not even a killswitch issue. its like, it disconnects abnormally and there *must* be some setting in iptables or something i just didnt know to set.


PIA, its been long enough, close to a year now, and you still do not have a config page for Wireguard (WG) or customer portal where we can grab keys from. TorGuard does, other VPN's do as well. 

Please for the love of god, OVPN is dying, WG is raising. Stop releasing OVPN updates and move to WG, if you don't, you will end up like Intel. 

Make a move and hire new devs and fire the old. Get new blood in the game.  Otherwise, I love the service, great job. Just dont drop the ball on the next generation VPN, aka WG.

Last night my internet stopped working, and I got an email from my ISP about copyright infringement. I called them and they told me I had to call 'DMCA' and they gave me a phone number. This is the second incident in about a month. Before that, it has been more than a year since anything like this, and the first time ever that I have been told I need to contact a third party to restore service. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm hesitant to call this number.

Incidentally, I use qbittorrent with pia VPN. I have qbittorrent set to only use the VPN network interface (ie, tun0).

I haven't searched for a new VPN to use since I found torguard 5 years ago. Since then I've been subscribed to it monthly (sometimes quarterly) on and off. Anyway I was wondering if there's a better VPN out there that I'm missing out on? I only use it for torrenting, but 10 dollars a month seems kinda high when it used to be 5 dollars a a month a few years ago. I know I would save more by paying quarterly ($19.99), semi-annually ($29.99), and annually ($59.99), but I would like to know if there are better priced (or better overall) VPNs that I should look at.


Is Torguard still a good VPN for the price?

I'm sure other providers have this feature, but TorGuard has an app-kill feature that will terminate an app if you lose your connection, and it can turn off your internet adapter if you aren't connected (logged in) to a server.

Nordvpn - Seems great but dont like the misleading marketing scheme and uses web scraping to detect what you're doing

(Also Every single website i went to for vpn recommendation i always see websites trying to make you click the link which brings you to nordvpn with affiliate link lol.)

Expressvpn - sold to Kape technologies recently so no trust + UI is a bit meh

surfshark - pretty new in the vpn industry so no history

Looking for a vpn which i can torrent safely and has a good support for streaming

I just renewed my expressvpn before reading about Kape acquisition. Fuck that. Nord seems to be the only alternative option I know for netflix and streaming sites.

Hey, I was wondering if anyone here knows the answer to this question. I was thinking of upgrading to Pro soon, and I'm eyeing the Residential Static IP feature. Does anyone know if it can be charged out at $8/month or does it need to be billed at $96/year? Does it depend on if your account has a yearly or a monthly subscription?

I'd ideally like to buy the yearly Pro subscription and then a monthly Static Residential subscription. Anyone know if that's possible?

TorGuard's speeds work very well for me. For reference, I'm in western Canada and my line is 1gpbs down and \~105mbps up, which TG practically matches w/ [904 down and 102 up](https://imgur.com/a/uijtasL)
